Workshop on engagement of children and youth to save environment

'While consuming by adult population, next generation must be kept in mind. We must take care of our future while undertaking development work. It is equally true for development work planned around Sundarban as well '- said Syeda Rizwana Hassan, Chief Executive of BELA while attending a national workshop on engagement of children and youth to save environment. The workshop was organized at the LGED Conference Room on May 2, 2017 and organizers were Department of Environment, UNDP, Green Savers and Save the Children.

Architect Iqbal Habib, Joint Secretary BAPA presented keynote paper in the workshop.

Dr. Ainun Nishat, Professor Emeritus of BRAC University was present as chief guest in the workshop. “We must think of environment before taking a single action. Message of reduce, reuse and recycle should be disseminated among children and young people widely”- said Dr. Nishat.  Ms. Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Chief Executive, BELA and Md. Mostak Hussain, Director- Humanitarian of Save the Children were present as special guest.

Participants and students from Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, BRAC University and Viqarunnisa Noon School & College took part in various sessions and presented their findings on issues like afforestation, waste management, water and air pollution. Jiaul Haque, Director, Department of Environment, Ministry of Environment and Forest presided over the meeting.
