“We are surrounded by different hazards as Savar is an industrial zone. When Rana Plaza building collapsed, it was the neighborhood people who responded first and came to rescue the people stuck inside. If these people were trained, the search & rescue could have been done more efficiently. I hope PROYASH II project will help us strengthen such capacity.” said Hazi Md. Abdul Gani, Mayor, Savar Municipality, in a MoU signing ceremony between Save the Children in Bangladesh, Social and Economic Enhancement Programme - SEEP and Savar Municipality.

All three will work together to enhance local capacity for urban risk management at six wards of the city. SCI Humanitarian Director Mostak Hussain, CEO of SEEP, Town-planner, Ward Councilors and other key municipality officials were also present at the ceremony.
