HOPE provided training on Inclusive Education

HOPE project have been contributing to capacity building of school teachers of 45 government primary schools (GPS) on inclusive education since 2016. Before this journey, project initiated to strengthen the capacity of national and Upazlia level education officials on Inclusive Education. Therefore, Save the Children HOPE Project organized Training of Trainers (ToT) on inclusive education in Dhaka last January so that they can support school teachers to implement inclusive education in primary schools. Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE), Dr. Md. Abu Hena Mostofa Kamal inaugurated the session as a Chief Guest. “As per SDG4, inclusive education is now a priority. We would like to achieve our goal jointly with government and civil society. We are progressing but we have to take long journey together to ensure inclusion of all children” - said Dr. Kamal while inaugurating the program.

As a continuation of this initiative, education officials facilitated the training for teachers on inclusive education at the upazila level. HOPE organized three days long training on inclusive education at Savar, Belkuchi and Karimganj Upazilla. A total 90 teachers (2 teacher per school) from 45 government primary schools successfully completed the training. At the end of the training, all teachers developed an action plan to implement inclusive education in their respective schools.
