Health Facility Survey Shared in Rajshahi

MaMoni Health Systems Strengthening (MaMoni HSS) Project has been supporting the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOH&FW) to strengthen the Union Health and Family Welfare Centers (UH&FWCs) to increase skilled attendance at birth. Over the last six months or so the project has assisted of the Director General of Family Planning (DGFP) to assess health facilities nationwide as part of the initiative. A total of 582 union level facilities have been assessed in Rajshahi Division and the dissemination meeting occurred on May 09, 2016.

The assessment was done on the basis of 10 specific criteria such as infrastructure, human resources, delivery facilities, waste disposal, approach road etc. About 10% of the facilities were found to be of A category (A category indicates that the facilities are already providing delivery service or can do so with minimum input), 64% of B category (meaning minor to mid-level input required to get them started on providing delivery care) and 26% of C category (meaning major input required). The assessment would help the ministry plan a comprehensive development plan for the union-level facilities.

Moloy Kumar Roy, Director Family Planning of Rajshahi Division chaired the meeting while Mohammad Wahid Hossain NDC, Director General-DGFP was present as Chief Guest. Dr. Mohammed Sharif, Director (MCH Services) delivered welcome address in the dissemination meeting. Around 100 participants comprised of officials from the DGFP, DGHS, local administration, media, local government and  development partners took part in the event.
