15th Session of Child Parliament took place on 21 December 2017 with the concern raised about the increasing violence against children. More than 150 children from all over Bangladesh attended this session and presented their views on the present situation of crimes and violence against children. They also made a number of recommendations to address the issue.
“Nutrition is a high priority issue for us and we will do everything within our capacity to ensure nutrition services for adolescent girls. I am very happy to see that our children and girls also understand the importance of nutrition and they are vocal about it” said Mr. Mohammed Nasim, MP , Minister for Ministry of Health and Family Welfare while attending the special session of the Child parliament held today at the Spectra convention Hall in Dhaka.
On 16 October, 14th child parliament session was organized with the theme "Impact of Disasters on Children", with the participation of child parliament members from the 35 flood affected districts at Bangladesh Shishu Academy.
While addressing National Girl Child Day, Meftahun a child parliament speaker from Dhaka, Bangladesh said “If a girl gets the opportunities and rights, she can thrive and be protected from child marriage.
A round-table discussion, organized by Save the Children along with Child Rights Advocacy Coalition and National Human Rights Commission was held at the press club on 27 August, 2017 where speakers urged effective measure to protect children from all forms of violence.
